Celebrated Turkish writer and Nobel Literature Prize winner Orhan Pamuk famously used Guler's images in his book "Istanbul: Memories and the City" in which the smoky and misty photos provided the perfect accompaniment to the text.

土耳其傳奇攝影家 Ara Guler逝世，享年90歲。


Guler以畢生攝影伊斯坦堡面貌而著名，紀錄了該市幾十年來的變遷，被譽為「伊斯坦堡之眼」。同時，丘吉爾、甘地、畢加索等名人，Guler 都曾拍攝過他們的照片。

Alec Guinness's portrayal of Fagin and his make-up was considered anti-semitic by some as it was felt to perpetuate Jewish racial stereotypes.[2] Guinness wore heavy make-up, including a large prostheticnose, to make him look like the character as he appeared in George Cruikshank's illustrations in the first edition of the novel.

Happy #InternationalCatDay! Here's a Cruikshank #illustration from #OliverTwist of a scene with Mrs Corney and Mr Bumble taking tea. In a letter describing this illustration to Cruikshank, #Dickens insisted he includes #cats and #kittens playing before the fire!

東海大學啚書館長彭懷真是心理學系教授，他在館中設校友作家區，我站在我的簡介和書前，旁邊是我高雄女中和東海大學的十年同窗孫康宜的簡介和書。

這種制度台大有。 已運作多年，似乎非新館長之功。

近日在二手書店買杜蘅之撰《遊歐小品》等二本. 看了很佩服 因為許多地方我也去過不過杜老師的文筆很好.
整理此文紀念他.

1966年我初二 在台中三中第一次讀到杜蘅之先生的文星版《遊歐小品》 (杜蘅之撰《遊歐小品》 臺北市: 文星書店, 民國55)
因為同學讀到巴黎男女青年邊走邊接吻的介紹 與我分享之
我前幾年才發現我1975年的東海大學《畢業紀念冊》有文學院院長杜蘅之先生用毛筆的題詞
我想他幾年之後就退休轉到東吳大學任教http://hcbooks.blogspot.tw/2013/03/1913-1997.html

羅徹斯特大學圖書館數位化後，騰出空間創造一個iZone，幫助同學去探索重要的創意。在大學四年間去發展出對社會、文化、社區、環境或經濟有沖撃有影響力的大創意創新。
